Anatomy of a floating solar farm

Floating solar is more similar to ground mounted solar than one might think. The only difference is that the solar panels are mounted to pontoons or floats which are then secured to the banks or bottom of the waterbody.

Most fonts have a particular weight which corresponds to one of the numbers in Common weight name mapping. However some fonts, called variable fonts, can support a range of weights with a more or less fine granularity, and this can give the designer a much closer degree of control over the chosen weight.

Made in USA

The customized floats are made from US manufactured food grade HDPE plastic. They are certified for outdoor deployment, have a design life of 40 years, and are fully recyclable, just like a milk jug.

Space Saving Design

Water is a perfect surface for solar. It's possible to install 2-3x more power per acre on water vs. land. This means more solar capacity installed and in turn higher revenue generation.

Adaptive Anchoring

Floating solar "islands" can be anchored to the bottoms or the banks. Third Pillar uses specialized marine elastic mooring lines, providing stability and reliability through any conditions.

Modular Construction

The modular nature of PV panels and floats enables floating solar systems to be constructed in less space with minimal land disturbance.
